The surf season in Peru is typically from April to October, with the best waves occurring during the winter months of May to August.
- Punta Hermosa: Located south of Lima, this is considered one of the best surf spots in Peru. It offers long, powerful waves that are suitable for experienced surfers. The waves here can reach up to 10 feet (3 meters) high and are known for their consistent shape and size.
- Pico Alto: This is another popular surf spot located south of Lima, known for its big waves that can reach up to 20 feet (6 meters) high. It is considered one of the best big wave spots in South America and is suitable for experienced surfers only.
- El Hueco: This is a surf spot located in the northern region of Peru, known for its consistent surf and long, peeling waves that are suitable for all levels of surfers. The waves here can reach up to 6 feet (2 meters) high and are known for their smooth, glassy surface.
The climate in Peru is generally warm and dry, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 25 to 30 Celsius) during the day and dropping to the mid-60s to low 70s Fahrenheit (around 20 to 25 Celsius) at night. The water temperature is generally around 72 to 75 Fahrenheit (around 22 to 24 Celsius) during the surf season.
